LYMPHADENOPATHY

 

Generalized

  • AIDS.

  • Lymphoma: Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

  • Leukemias, reticuloendotheliosis.

  • Infectious mononucleosis, CMV, and other viral infections.

  • Diffuse skin infection: generalized furunculosis, multiple tick bites.

  • Parasitic  infections:   toxoplasmosis,   filariasis,   leishmaniasis,  Chagas' disease.

  • Serum sickness.

  • Collagen vascular diseases (RA, SLE).

  • Dengue (arbovirus infection).

  • Sarcoidosis and other granulomatous diseases.

  • Drugs: INH, hydantoin derivatives, antithyroid and antileprosy drugs.

  • Secondary syphilis.

  • Hyperthyroidism, lipid-storage diseases.

 

Localized

  • Any of the causes of generalized lymphadenopathy.

  • Draining  lymphatics  from  local  infection:   infected  furuncle,   throat infection, dental  abscess,  lymphogranuloma venereum, brucellosis, parasitic infections, cat-scratch disease.

  • Neoplasm.

  • TB (scrofula)
